Medical History

This exhibit illustrates the medical history of Yarmouth, and includes antique books, medicine bottles, doctors' furniture, and various medical devices from the past. The exhibit was developed in partnership with Dr. Allan Marble of the Medical History Society of Nova Scotia.

The majority of the artifacts in the exhibit were donated by Dr. David Webster, the fifth generation physician in the Webster family from Yarmouth; his family's medical legacy begins with Dr. Isaac Webster, who arrived in Nova Scotia in the late 1700s. At the opening of the exhibit on April 25, 2009, Dr. Webster stated, "It is an honour and a privilege to have so many items from my family's history on permanent display at the Museum."
