Yarmouth County Archives
The Yarmouth County Archives is dedicated to the preservation and cataloguing of documents, photographs, and other sources that detail the history of Yarmouth County. With roughly 25,000 photographs and a research library, it's no wonder that the Yarmouth County Archives is the largest non-institutional archives in Nova Scotia!
At the Archives, you can research Yarmouth County residents, ships, heritage buildings, legends and ghost stories. You can go back in time by reading old letters and diaries, or newspapers on microfilm that date back to 1833! Our extensive photo collection provides brief glimpses into Yarmouth as it was.
The Archives offers a broad range of research services to suit your needs. We can assist with genealogical research, from helping to construct your family tree, to hosting your family reunion. Research can be conducted by mail or in person. Public use computers with high-speed Internet are available. We also offer photocopying and photograph reprinting services.
**This Monday, August 8th, the Yarmouth County Archives will be closed from 12:30 to 5:00pm. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
